Kemer is a seaside resort and a district of Antalya Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, 43 km west of the city Antalya.
Kemer is located on the Gulf of Antalya, 53 km of sea coast with the skirts of the western Taurus mountains behind. The coast has the typical Mediterrannean hot, dry
weather and warm sea. Until the early 1980s this was a quiet rural district but today the town of Kemer and the coastal villages Kiris, Tekirova, Camyuva, Aslanbucak, Kuzdere, Göynük and Beldibi play very important part of tourism in Turkey.
Kemer was called Eski Köy (old village) until in 1916 – 1917, a 23 km long stone wall was built to channel the mountain stream water .The name Kemer refers to those walls.
Until 1960s there was no coast road and the district was accessible only by boat.
Then a road was built and from the 1980s onwards this was followed by a great investment in infrastructure, planned by the state and funded by the World Bank.
Construction permission in the area is restricted as the region is designated as a national park. In order to prevent the area from being spoiled, all building heights are restricted to 2.5 floors (only in Aslanbucak area 3.5 floors) to maintain the magnificent surroundings views. These factors will have a profound impact on future property values, which should see quite impressive returns on any investments made in this region.
Kemer is a jewel in the Turkish crown. Situated on the Turkish Riviera with 300 days of sunshine a year makes it an attractive holiday and second home destination. The completion of the new Ski Center in 2009 gives you the possibility to ski and swim at the same time of the year!
Swimming, skiing, golf, sailing, mountain safari, mountain biking, quad biking, horse riding, water sports and much more.. With a length of 4,350 meters, the Tahtali aerial cable way is the longest in Europe and the second longest in the World.
